Scopus inclusion for EWJUS
I am pleased to announce that East/West: Journal of Ukrainian Studies has been accepted into Scopus. The Scopus Content Selection & Advisory Board (CSAB) reviewed EWJUS's application and approved it for coverage, effective Sept. 1, 2021.
In the words of Scopus's anonymous reviewers, "This is a well organised journal publishing material likely to interest SCOPUS users . . . Much of the content impresses . . . [and] [t]he journal consistently includes articles that are academically sound and relevant to an international academic or professional audience in the field."
I am proud of this acceptance as it has been one of the projects that I set for EWJUS, as its editor-in-chief. To reach this goal, I developed several policies for EWJUS that high-impact indices, such as Scopus or Web of Science, require of journals. These policies include statements on anti-plagiarism and research publication ethics, on research misconduct and retraction, and on digital archiving. They can be accessed on EWJUS's updated About the Journal page, along with our newly developed special issue policy.
The Scopus acceptance notice comes one year after another important milestone for EWJUS - an agreement with Coalition Publica/Érudit, a Canadian not-for-profit academic platform that also indexes EWJUS.
I hope such broad academic indexing will provide EWJUS with better visibility and searchability, and inclusion in Scopus will make EWJUS a more attractive publication venue for colleagues whose universities require publications in journals, indexed in high-impact scholarly databases.
Stay tuned for more EWJUS news coming this fall regarding the launch of our English-Ukrainian translation project and the publication of our fall issue (featuring two critical fora:
(1) on the Intermarium and security in the Black Sea region and (2) on early modern Ukraine).
I wish everyone a smooth start of the fall semester,
